This is the first purpose built single speed mountain bike hub ever built. This hub is why most single speed mountain bikes have a 52mm chain-line: We spread the flanges out as far as possible to make a super strong wheel, and stuck a bmx freewheel in the space between the flange and the frame.

The WORD comes with special machined mount bolts (we call them "Fancy Bolts"), and washers in stainless and brass, with deeply knurled contact faces.

This is the simplest version of the WORD hub, but we make two other versions as well. The Disk WORD hub has an added 6 bolt disk rotor attachment and higher flanges, and the Fixed/Disk WORD has fixed gear threading an a disk rotor mount.

As with all our hubs the axles can be quick release or bolt on. Quick release axles are really nice on frames with vertical dropouts and chain-tensioners. On frames with horizontal dropouts it's best to stick with bolts.
